What is ECHO Ontario Skin and Wound?

ECHO stands for Extension for Community Healthcare Outcomes. It combines a short interactive didactic lecture with de-identified patient cases for collaborative case discussion and care planning.

The ECHO model links specialist/resource team (Hub) with primary care community-based partners (Spokes) in a Hub and Spokes model.

The Hub comprises of interprofessional faculty/wound care experts including physicians, nurses and allied health (chiropodists, occupational therapists etc.) and the participants form the Spokes that are connected to the Hub.

For ECHO Ontario Skin and Wound, we virtually stream two cycles with 8 sessions. The first cycle is focused on Limb Preservation and Leg & Foot Ulcer (including one-day in-person skills training for a toolkit). Cycle 2 focuses on Pressure Injuries and Other Wound Types.

Our partners that create the interprofessional co-hubs include WoundPedia, NSWOCC (Nurses Specialized in Wound, Ostomy and Continence Canada) and Queen's University.
